Jharkhand Cancels 44 Recruitment Exams

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has cancelled 44 recruitment examinations amid allegations of irregularities in the state’s government recruitment process. The decision was announced on August 18 and comes after weeks of protests by students and job aspirants demanding a transparent and reliable examination system.

The cancelled examinations include tests conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and examinations in which TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) was involved. The list covers recruitment examinations held over several years, with some of the cases dating back to 2014.

Among the examinations affected are recruitment tests for posts such as assistant professors, drug inspectors, deputy collectors, dental doctors, assistant engineers, civil judges, additional public prosecutors and forest range officers. Several other administrative, technical and scientific posts are also included.

The government said the action was taken after complaints about irregularities and information that came to light during the ongoing CID investigation. The move is intended to address concerns over the fairness of recruitment examinations and restore confidence among candidates preparing for government jobs.

JSSC-CGL Cancellation Adds to Candidate Concerns

One of the most significant examinations affected by the controversy is the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination. The cancellation has created uncertainty for candidates who had already cleared the examination and were expecting government appointments. Reports indicate that around 2,000 successful candidates have been affected and have raised objections to the decision.

The issue has also become a major point of concern among student groups in Jharkhand. Candidates have been demanding action against those responsible for alleged irregularities while also seeking safeguards to ensure that future recruitment examinations are conducted fairly.

Government Plans Further Action

Along with cancelling the examinations, the Jharkhand government has announced several measures aimed at tightening the recruitment system. It plans to request the High Court to establish a fast-track court for cases related to alleged irregularities and misconduct in JPSC and JSSC examinations.

The government has also proposed an internal vigilance mechanism for the recruitment commissions and a reform committee to examine the existing examination system. The committee is expected to study weaknesses in the recruitment process and recommend changes to improve transparency and prevent similar controversies in the future.

The cancellation of the 44 examinations is therefore more than a single recruitment decision. It puts the entire examination and selection process under scrutiny and could have a significant impact on thousands of candidates who have spent years preparing for government jobs.
