Anant Ambani Pledges Rs 1 Lakh Crore Investment in Andhra Pradesh
Anant Ambani announces Reliance's proposed Rs 1 lakh crore investment in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on clean energy, compressed biogas plants, technology-driven farming and rural employment.
Madanapalle, October 3, 2026: Reliance Industries has announced plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on compressed biogas (CBG) production, renewable energy and technology-driven agricultural development. The announcement was made by Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani during a foundation-laying ceremony in Madanapalle on Friday.
The proposed investment is expected to support the establishment of compressed biogas plants across the state. According to Ambani, the initiative could create more than 3 lakh jobs and generate approximately Rs 60,000 crore in revenue for Andhra Pradesh over the coming decades.
Focus on Clean Energy and Rural Employment
The planned CBG facilities will convert organic waste, agricultural residues and other biomass into renewable fuel. The initiative aims to expand clean-energy production while creating additional economic opportunities in rural areas.
The investment is also expected to strengthen the connection between agriculture and the renewable energy sector by creating potential markets for agricultural waste and other organic resources.
Ambani highlighted the importance of supporting farmers and rural communities through energy-related investments, while also identifying opportunities in advanced manufacturing and clean-energy projects in the Rayalaseema region.
Technology to Transform Agriculture
Alongside the energy investment, Reliance is extending support to the proposed Indian School of Agriculture, which was announced during the foundation-laying ceremony for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub in Madanapalle.
The institution is intended to combine modern agricultural technology with traditional farming knowledge. Its proposed areas of focus include artificial intelligence-based pest prediction, drone-assisted crop monitoring, precision irrigation, robotics, greenhouse technology and agricultural market intelligence.
Reliance's digital capabilities, including its Jio Krishi platform, are expected to contribute to farmer training, digital agricultural services and technology adoption.
The company has also outlined plans to use virtual classrooms and regional-language training programmes to help farmers access agricultural knowledge. The initiative could also provide opportunities for rural youth to develop skills as digitally enabled agricultural service providers.
Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub to Support Farmers
The foundation stone for the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub and Indian School of Agriculture was laid in Madanapalle in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other officials.
The proposed horticulture hub has a separate funding framework of Rs 1 lakh crore, comprising Rs 40,000 crore in central assistance and Rs 60,000 crore in private investment, according to reports on the project.
The initiative aims to expand horticulture cultivation, improve agricultural infrastructure and develop processing, storage, logistics and export facilities. It is designed to create additional opportunities for farmers across the drought-prone Rayalaseema region.
Long-Term Economic Prospects
The proposed Reliance investment and the horticulture development programme are intended to support Andhra Pradesh's clean-energy ambitions, agricultural modernisation and rural economic activity.
However, the projected employment figures and revenue estimates are long-term targets associated with the proposed investment. The actual impact will depend on project implementation, infrastructure development, investment timelines and the adoption of new technologies.
The initiatives place renewable energy, digital agriculture and horticultural development at the centre of a broader effort to expand economic opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
